HOW TO SUBMIT A LETTER OR ARTICLE FOR PUBLICATION IN THE PAPER |
The publishers and the staff of the Seldovia Gazette value our Constitutional right to freedom of speech. We welcome original, insightful letters or articles from our readers. Due to space considerations, please limit letters to approximately 300 words. Please include your name, signature (if possible), address and phone number. We will not publish your address or phone number or email address. This is simply to assure you are the author and if we, as editors, need to contact you other than by reply email. If you submit an article for the Home Page, please include pictures, your name, signature (if possible), address and phone number. We will not publish your address or phone number or email address. This is simply to assure you are the author and if we, as editors, need to contact you other than by reply email. In most cases, we will not edit any letter or article for clarity or grammar, unless we notify the author. All letters or articles must be submitted and received by publication day, Thursday, before 10 AM in order to be printed in the current week’s press (paper published on-line Thursday evening for Friday viewing). Every effort will be made to get your letter within a week of submission (article published within a reasonable time after submittion.) If the editors receive a number of letters regarding the same subject, we reserve the discretion to publish some of the letters in a subsequent weekly publication or if we receive a large number of letters on different subjects, they may be published in consideration of date received, first come, first serve. If you are submitting an article for the paper, the article must be newsworthy. If there is not enough space for an article to be published, the editors reserve the right to "save" the article for publication at a later time. (We especially welcome articles on travel experiences, similar to the one written by Tamara Blodgett on 2/8/07 regarding Mazatlan.) We accept letters or articles submitted by one of three ways:
